Minooka, union ratify police contract

MINOOKA — Minooka Police Union 348 has a new three-year contract, thanks to the hard work of union representatives and a village committee.

Village Administrator Dan Duffy, Village Finance Manager John Harrington and Police Chief Justin Meyer were successful in negotiating a collective bargaining agreement with the union in just over three months.

“It was a very civil and relatively quick negotiation,” Duffy said.

The contract was negotiated without outside counsel, saving taxpayers the cost of attorney fees and negotiating in a quick fashion, said Duffy.

Only minor changes were made to the contract, which will expire in 2015.

“I appreciate working with the union on the contract,” said Duffy. “We feel both sides negotiated a good contract for everyone.”...more
